Should we expect a fantastic aurora this week?
March 27, 2023
27-day aurora forecast based on data from SWPC
While the forecast for this week is updated from an earlier expected Kp4-5 to Kp3-4 on the weekend, we all remember what happened last week. When the solar storm arrived a day earlier and caused a G4 geomagnetic storm instead of the forecasted G2 storm. Incredible auroras have been seen in many places in the north and south hemispheres.
So, it's worth checking the 3-day and real-time aurora forecast regularly this week. And remember to find a beautiful location with a clear sky when the activity is high.
The moon is already bright this week and will illuminate the landscape well in the coming nights. So, finding a beautiful landscape for your aurora pictures is a good idea.
Also, the forecast promises we'll again see last week's solar storm on April 20-21. Fingers crossed. Let's check the updated 27-day forecast next Monday.
